Pertussis outbreak
Pertussis (whooping cough) is epidemic in California. As of July 13, 2010, 1,496 cases of pertussis have been reported to CDPH in 2010. Six infants too young to be immunized are known to have died of pertussis so far in 2010. The California Department of Public Health has recently expanded the age group that should receive this vaccine to anyone 7 years of age or older including those over 64 years of age. Anyone with close contact with an infant should consider tdap, including family members and extended family of new infants. Tdap, and all adult vaccinations, are available at our clinic. Please call to schedule an appointment.

Providing Travelers with Pre-Travel
Counseling and Immunization Since 1989

The International Traveler’s Medical Clinic is an all-inclusive travel health clinic. Whether you are trekking Machu Picchu , attending a business meeting in Mumbai, or heading to a safari in Sub Saharan Africa, planning ahead to stay healthy while traveling is as important as purchasing your tickets and acquiring your passport. Our goal is to provide the traveler with detailed, specific guidance for their entire trip.

At the International Traveler’s Medical Clinic, we have been providing prospective travelers with pre travel counseling and immunizations since 1989. We are pleased to offer comprehensive travel health counseling, vaccinations, and prescriptions necessary for travel health to persons traveling for business, pleasure, and volunteer work. We are an official state licensed yellow fever vaccination site, and can provide all currently available routine and travel vaccinations.

At your consult, you will meet with a qualified travel health nurse, who will make recommendations based on your health history, itinerary, and anticipated activities, then administer all the vaccines necessary for your trip. Just as important as the vaccinations you will receive, the travel nurse will give you written and verbal information on preventive measures such as food and water precautions, malaria risk, insect avoidance and personal safety issues.

Because several weeks may be required to complete a needed vaccine series, we recommend the initial consult to be at least 4 weeks prior to departure. When this is not possible, we will meet your travel health needs as completely as the time we have allows. There are a few vaccines that can be beneficial even if you are on your way to the airport.

Our consult fee is $50, and costs of the vaccinations are priced individually. We ask for payment at the time of your visit, and accept all credit cards, (Visa, American Express, and MasterCard), check or cash. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. For returning travelers that have not been seen in our clinic for 2 years or more, there will be a $25 office visit fee.

To see each traveler in a timely manner, we see travelers by appointment only. The nurse is available for vaccinations and consultations on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The office is open to schedule an appointment Monday through Friday from 8:00- 5:00.

We are conveniently located in a physician office building adjacent to San Ramon Regional Medical Center. Our office is beautifully executed to provide a relaxing, soothing atmosphere for your travel clinic experience. Our office staff works closely with the travel nurse to provide you with the most streamlined visit as possible.
